The Pheasant Tail is one of the older and more venerable patterns in fly fishing, originally developed in England as a nymph.
This dry fly is a useful prospector and according to expert fly fishermen very productive as a spinner or hatching mayfly.
The parachute post makes the Pheasant Tail visible and the horizontal hackle lets the fly sink deeper into the film.
This pattern is one of my favourite for dry fly fishing in calm or even fast water: a real all round pattern!
